Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Network Engineer to be based in our Arlington, VA office.
Overview:
IDT is seeking a Network Systems Engineer whose primary focus will be on the development and continuous maintenance of network devices both on site at our offices in addition to our portable server solutions used for tactical purposes. In addition to the design and maintenance of network devices, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to cross train and learn additional technical skills that will include, but are not limited to, Red Hat/Linux, VMWare virtualization, and Microsoft Windows to build a complete technology solution for the missions we support.

Responsibilities Include:
Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environmentPerform requirements analysis, translating business need into IT resource specificationsDeveloping design, document, and standardize configurations for networking devices deployed locally and remoteProvide direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, changes to network devices remotely and on siteContribute to improvement of administrative and security postures within various subnetsPerform administration and lifecycle management of hypervisors, automation and orchestration software, enterprise virtual Systems and networks utilizing multiple network management tools and applicationsComplete capacity planning, workload modeling, prediction, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning to ensure stable performance of the virtualization environmentsMinimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant field of EngineeringMinimum 5 years of experience in a relevant technology field requiredRequired Skills:
Experience with physical switch installation/administrationNetworking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, Switching, Routing, VLANsExperience creating and updating firewall rulesExperienced with developing Quality of Service (QoS) rules for optimization of the networkStrong understanding of Multicast Networking concepts – PIM, IGMP, etc.Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environmentExperienced with Cisco Networking devices, with emphasis on NX-OS and Cisco iOS devicesAbility to create CAT5/5e/6 cable in the field, if neededExperience troubleshooting complex network issues to include, and not limited to, Spanning Tree Protocol, OSPF, HSRP, Virtual Port Channels, etc.Experience hardening and securing network devices per DISA STIG RequirementsSome level of experience managing/configuring either Server-based or Workstation-based Operating Systems (Windows Workstation, Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu)Ability to travel approximately 25% of the timePreferred Skills:
Experience troubleshooting issues of both a software and/or a hardware natureExperience developing/maintaining network architectures that are designed for redundancyExperience with working networks in support of tactical solutions.Networking protocol experience (802.11, TCP, UDP, ICMP) and troubleshooting network related issues at a physical and operating system level.Experience with well-thought out physical server configuration and cablingExperience with Bash and/or C shell scripting a plusExperience with Ruckus-based Network Devices a plusExperience with VMWare NSX-T is a plusExperience with Ansible, Powershell, Chef, Salt, Python, or Puppet experience is a plusSecurity+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification highly encouragedFamiliarity with DISA STIG or other Risk Management Framework is highly encouragedCompetencies:
