Certification Details BLS required ACLS preferred Job Details Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage. The shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contacts, 36-48 hour guarantee's. Job Requirements Department: Med Tele / Ortho RN - 4th Floor North & South Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps Shifts & Scheduling: SELF SCHEDULING Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Holiday Requirements: 2-3 Holidays from Thanksgiving to New Years Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: RNs: Navy Blue How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days Schedule Information The shift will be twelve hours Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling Unit Specific Information Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20 Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes Additional Details Have mechanical lifts in every other room Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmeese Radius Rule: 50 miles RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions
