TAK Broadband is a leading end-to-end U.S. fiber broadband network construction contractor operating in 42 states. TAK’s ecosystem of partners allows it to successfully complete every project starting from the first point of conception. This includes engineering teams, distributors, and more than 100 qualified construction crews with extensive experience across all ISP types and markets; over 300 experienced bury drop crews; and more than 700 professional technicians.
We are seeking a Director of Accounting to join our team in Sioux Falls, SD or the Greater Kansas City area. We are seeking a professional with a strong background in technical accounting, internal controls, and audit experience. This individual will lead the accounting function, ensuring the highest standards of financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of our financial information and will collaborate closely with the finance team to support TAK's growth initiatives.

The Role
Technical Accounting Leadership: Provides expert guidance on complex accounting and financial reporting issues, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Addresses and resolves technical accounting challenges, leveraging a background in high-level technical accounting and audit.
Audit and Internal Controls Oversight: Establishes and maintains robust internal controls across all accounting operations. Leads audit preparation activities, managing relationships with external auditors to ensure a smooth and successful audit process. Implements internal audit readiness practices modeled after Big Four standards to mitigate risk and ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting and Compliance: Oversees the preparation of accurate, timely financial reports. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, applying technical expertise to verify the integrity of financial data and reporting processes.
Collaboration with Finance and Executive Leadership: Works in close partnership with the finance team and executive leadership to provide accounting insights that support financial planning and strategic initiatives. Contribute to strategic discussions and decisions related to mergers, acquisitions, and corporate transactions
Process Improvement and Efficiency: Identifies, develops, and implements process improvements within the accounting function to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Optimizes the use of accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct) and collaborates with IT and software vendors for system enhancements.
Team Development and Mentorship: Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing accounting team with an emphasis on technical proficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement. Fosters a collaborative environment focused on growth and professional development.
System and Vendor Management: Oversees accounting software and tools, ensuring alignment with the company’s technical needs and operational goals. Coordinates with vendors on system updates and maintenance to ensure accurate financial data management.
Requirements
15+ years of experience in corporate accounting management, with a strong focus on technical accounting, internal controls, and GAAP compliance
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred
Extensive knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting, and audit requirements
Proven track record in leading and developing accounting teams within a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and clearly convey complex accounting topics
Experience with Sage Intacct (preferred) and high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and financial reporting
Must maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information
Valid driver’s license
