The Department of Medicine: Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary part-time Research Coordinator to join their team.
The purpose of this temporary Research Coordinator is to take a lead role in conducting and managing a longitudinal study investigating communication, decision-making, and racial inequities in end-of-life healthcare.
This position must adhere to guidelines and policies of the University of Washington, UW Medicine, CRBB, and funding sponsors including NIH and foundation awards. The Research Coordinator may be asked to develop and manage budgets and understand study conduct guidelines for all types of award sponsors.
This is a part-time position based at Harborview Medical Center.
Working with the Principal Investigator, duties will include:
Clinical Research Operations The Research Coordinator will oversee study implementation, working with the PI to develop clinical protocols and procedure manuals, and assess and mitigate enrollment barriers. This will include screening and recruiting hospitalized patients for enrollment into a longitudinal study, administering surveys and performing data entry, and identifying a sub-cohort of these patients for subsequent recorded interviews.
This individual will collect data and ensure compliance and adherence with protocol requirements. This position is responsible for tracking milestone achievements while responding to data queries and assuring data entry accuracy. The Research Coordinator will provide data necessary for sponsor reports, presentations, and publications.
Research Compliance The Research Coordinator will also be responsible for IRB submissions using the UW IRB system and direct response to Human Subjects Office and Office of Sponsored Programs. They will assist with developing study manuals and case report forms in compliance with extramural sponsor and UW compliance office guidelines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a health science field with 3 years of clinical research operations experience including project management and long-range planning.
The individual must have demonstrated problem-solving skills, strong detail orientation and ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities and timelines.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience working with sensitive and marginalized patient populations, including chronically or terminally ill patients.
