What You'll Be Doing
The Autism Waiver program provides home and community-based waiver direct support services for children approved by the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Department of Health. Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services provides Service Coordination/Case Management for children in the Autism Waiver through a Memorandum of Understanding with Montgomery County Public Schools. The Program Specialist II position is in the Department's Aging and Disability Services Division. This position provides case management, transition services, and crisis intervention services for young children, youth, and young adults with Autism who have been determined eligible for the Autism Waiver.
Position Primary Responsibilities
Develop, monitor, and coordinate services including local and state resources for individuals that are enrolled in the State's Autism Waiver Program.Recertification of both the client services and community providers that are funded through the Maryland State Department of Education.Provide technical assistance to clients, families, and private/public providers; including juvenile justice programs, homeless shelters, child welfare, and adult protective services that may service children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities.Additional duties involve, but are not limited to, conducting in-person annual home visits with the participants, community presentations, coordinating and facilitating meetings, and case documentation, preparing progress notes, and any additional and related activities. The regulations, guidelines and procedures have been developed at the Federal and State levels.Travel may be required to perform field visits to coordinate and monitor services (personal transportation is necessary).Evening and weekend work may be required.Selected candidate will be required to submit to a background investigation.

Experience : We are seeking a candidate with two (2) years of professional experience providing services to individuals with Autism or Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.Education:
The position also requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.Note:
There is no equivalency for this position - State regulations require that Service Coordinators in the Autism Waiver Program have a bachelor's degree.License:
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence when required for job-related duties.

Two years of case management and/or fieldwork experience working with children and adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities in home and community settings.Knowledge and experience of the Special Education School system at the State and local levels.Knowledge and experience coordinating and facilitating multidisciplinary team meetings.Knowledge and experience working with private non-profit organizations.Multilingual Spanish is preferred.
