Description / Position Overview
Safety and Operations Manager - Transit ServicesIn this role, you will manage daily transit operations, support strategic planning, and lead initiatives that foster a safety-first culture in line with new federal mandates. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop operational guidelines, oversee contract and regulatory compliance, and ensure service continuity for our 24/7 operations. The Operations Manager will also serve as the Transit Safety Officer, guiding our safety protocols and coordinating with union representatives. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on community safety, customer service, and operational excellence in a fast-paced transit environment.

Safety Leadership & Compliance:
Lead as the Transit Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) and other agency safety mandates. Develop and implement transit safety plans, and chair safety committee meetings, prioritizing the protection of front-line employees and passengers.Operational Oversight:
Oversee a team of 14 employees and over 300 contracted staff, ensuring effective transit service delivery, fleet maintenance, emergency response coordination, and 24/7 operational support.Strategic Problem-Solving & Federal Mandate Interpretation:
Address evolving FTA requirements, applying strategic problem-solving to interpret and enforce new safety standards. Balance union and management perspectives to uphold safety requirements across all operations.Customer Service & Data Reporting:
Manage customer service response, fielding more than 1,000 calls monthly and resolving driver and service complaints. Oversee operational, asset and safety data reporting and analyze trends to improve operational and safety protocols.Strategic Planning:
Responsible for the Transit's short- and long-range planning activities. Lead the service change process, seek solutions to operational challenges, and explore travel demand management solutions such as vanpool and partnership.Resource Management & Budgeting:
Manage a $35 million operations budget, including resource allocation and forecasting for fleet maintenance and service needs. Collaborate with city officials to ensure budget alignment with operational goals.Team Leadership & Development:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, transportation management, or a related field.Five years of full-time, professional experience in transit operations or a related field, including two years of supervisory experience.Possess or obtain upon hire a non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending chargesSubstitutions:
