Job Details:
We are currently seeking a Permanent Litigation Associate Attorney to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex and challenging litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation, with a focus on asbestos defense litigation. The candidate will be responsible for managing cases from inception to completion, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses, and representing clients in court. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Represent clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters, with a primary focus on asbestos defense litigation.
Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to advise clients on potential legal risks and outcomes.
Draft, review, and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
Take and defend depositions, negotiate settlements, and represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
Manage cases from inception to completion, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that cases are moving forward in a timely manner.
Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Stay up-to-date on changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends that may impact clients and their cases.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the California State Bar.
A minimum of 2+ years of experience in civil litigation, with a focus on asbestos defense litigation or related area preferred.
Proven experience in taking depositions and managing the discovery process.
Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively represent clients in court.
High degree of professionalism and adherence to strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
