Job Title: Conservation Outreach Manager Location: Springville,Utah County Job Description: If you re a professional communicator who loves wildlife,this is your dream job! We re looking for a talented,detail-oriented storyteller someone with expert verbal and written communication skills to fill the role of Conservation Outreach Manager in our Springville office. You would work closely with Division employees,partners,the news media,and the public on various projects focused on wildlife (e.g.,safety,viewing,conflicts,etc.) and wildlife-related activities (e.g.,hunting,fishing,trapping,etc.). This unique position involves frequent,hands-on fieldwork during wildlife and fisheries management projects. You would also supervise the regional employees who implement the following programs: Hunter Education,Shooting Sports,Dedicated Hunter,Walk-in Access,Community Fisheries,and Wildlife Recreation Events. Principal Duties:

Work closely with regional personnel to stay informed about projects and efforts that are a priority for the Aquatic,Habitat,Law Enforcement,and Wildlife sections,in order to knowledgeably share stories that engage the public and build support for wildlife management and conservation.Serve as the division's media spokesperson regarding regional wildlife issues and hot topics. Responsible for cultivating relationships with local news media.Use your expert communication skills to develop compelling content for distribution on the Division s website,blog,and social media channels.Supervise and support an employee to help you plan and carry out the following programs within the region: Hunter Education,Shooting Sports,Dedicated Hunter,Walk-in Access,Community Fisheries Angler Education,and Wildlife Recreation Events.Coordinate with the communication team in the Salt Lake Office regarding story ideas,regional events,upcoming management projects and efforts,etc.Help plan and carry out public meetings,open houses,and special events.

Ideal Candidate:

The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely,both verbally and in writing. Able to produce news releases,blog posts,social media content,and other materials.Strong interpersonal communication abilities that help build trust and positive relationships with Division employees,partners,members of the media,and the public.Creative,pragmatic ways to solve problems and improve processes.Previous personnel management experience or a strong aptitude for personnel management.An understanding of the principles and practices related to budgets and budget management.An understanding and appreciation for the history and traditions associated with hunting,fishing,trapping,and shooting sports,and recognition of how those activities support wildlife conservation.
