REPORTS TO:VP, GeosciencesABOUT WILDFIRE ENERGY:WildFire Energy, LLC is an independent energy company focused on the acquisition, exploitation, and production of oil and natural gas properties in the United States through the application of modern technology and production optimization. WildFire’s principal assets are located in the Brazos Valley area of the eastern Eagle Ford.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Senior Geologist will be responsible for performing subsurface analysis for various exploitation opportunities, partnering with Reservoir and other multi-disciplinary teams to provide data-backed recommendations for both potential investments and the optimization of existing projects. Strong communication skills, entrepreneurial mind-set, and ability to self-motivate will be key traits to possess.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary task will be to generate field studies and quantify new opportunitiesCreate geologic fairway maps, incorporate mud logs and production mapping, coordinate with reservoir department to quantify commerciality, etc.Analyze and interpret subsurface characterization models for unconventional and conventional reservoir formations, providing geologic support of scheduled drilling operations, as well as recompletion and workover recommendations, review up hole potential for P&A candidatesGenerate maps for technical use as well as presentations to leadership, communicating identified lithological, mineralogical and petrophysical characteristics impacting reservoir potential and production forecastsPartner with multi-disciplinary teams (drilling, completions, production, reservoir), to provide geological assessments, guide optimized well placement, completion strategies, development planning recommendations and optimized ongoing maintenanceThe duties described above are a brief summation of the general nature and level of work performed, but are not intended to be a complete comprehensive list of all the duties, activities, and responsibilities required. This position may be asked to perform other duties/activities as necessary or required.LOCATION:Houston, TXKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Proficiency in the use and application of IHS Market’s Kingdom software, ARCGIS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook), and the ability to learn new software or applications, additionally:High standards of accuracy, organization and attention to detailDemonstrated knowledge of upstream geological analysisHighly-driven and self-motivatedAbility to work collaboratively across departmental functionsProfessional communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skillsEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field from an accredited four-year university required, Master’s degree in Geology preferred10-15 years' experience in oil and gas production function requiredSpecific geologic work experience in the Gulf Coast (Eagle Ford, Austin Chalk, Haynesville, etc.) preferredApplicants must be authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
