Program Specialist for Outreach & Communications

We actively strive to channel our highly engaged employee’s knowledge, critical thinking, innovative solutions for our clients.ResponsibilitiesWrite, edit, and produce high-quality print and electronic materials for various audiences, to include program document preparation and communications support.Work with Middle East Bureau communications team lead, Development Outreach and Communications specialists in USAID Missions, and counterparts in USAID’s Legislative and Public Affairs bureau on communications strategies and products.Manage social media, Web pages, and other electronic media. Develop, write, edit and post material after ensuring proper clearance. Engage with diverse target audiences.Manage a variety of outreach, promotion, and communication activities to build relationships and engage with diverse groups and individuals – including legislative, interagency and public audiences in the United States as well as the Middle East and North Africa.Prepare and present program reports and success stories.Gather and explain material on often complex subjects, writing and editing a wide range of speeches and presentations, publications, and other communication.Design and coordinate events.Create and execute strategies to maximize engagement opportunities.Liaising with and responding to inquiries from various internal and external stakeholder groups.Coordinate and report on Bureau/Mission program activities.Support USAID liaison and coordination efforts with other donors, NGOs, civil society groups, government officials, and other actors, as it pertains to outreach and program support efforts.Provide records maintenance and other duties as assigned related to area of responsibility.Liaising backstop and field support.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, etc.) preferred.Five+ years of professional work experience in a U.S. government or international development setting with preference for part of this time being spent working in international contexts.Minimum five years of experience in writing and editing, communications, or public affairs, including:Experience in varied outreach and communications efforts, including direct experience with drafting speeches, press releases, fact sheets, Congressional testimony or similar types of written products.Experience establishing effective working relationships with individuals and/or organizations with opposing or competing points of view.Experience developing communication strategies tailored to diverse publics both in the U.S. and overseas.Experience independently planning, designing, and carrying out public affairs programs, campaigns, projects, or studies.Demonstrated knowledge or skill in applying communication theories and techniques to unusual or sensitive communication issues or problems.Demonstrated experience advising organizational leadership regarding communication strategies and techniques.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to travel as required to locations in the Middle East and North Africa.Ability to meet often shifting or tight deadlines on multiple projects and respond and adapt to widely varied needs of a small team in a busy bureau.Must have high level Knowledge and Skills within area of responsibility.Must have excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in the use of Windows, Microsoft Office, internet search engines, social media, and e-mail applications.Final salary determination based on skill-set, qualifications, and approved funding.Teleworking Permitted?
