As an Information Officer II with the Department of Public Safety (DPS), you will be assisting the Public Information Office by producing professionally written documents, social media content, community alerts, presentations, graphics, short videos, and photographs of pertinent DPS activities. You will share the responsibility of establishing and maintaining positive relations with news media and the public for the department. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining self-motivated and on task.Experience and strong understanding of various social media outlets such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram.Strong written, verbal, and detailed-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information.Strong research skills and creative ability for idea implantation. Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in journalism, communications media, education, English, literature, fine arts, library science, radio, television, photography, advertising, marketing, sales, public relations and/or promotional work, freelance writing, technical writing and/or research, education, library work or other information dissemination field.

All Department of Public Safety/CDVSA employees are required to be fingerprinted. The successful candidate must pass a full criminal history and background check.This position will be required to use SOA financial systems including ALDER and IRIS. If applicants do not have this training and skill, they will be required to participate in training to become proficient in these financial systems.Must receive and maintain State of Alaska Procurement Level 1 and 2 certifications. The AA2 is also required to complete training in NEOGOV, part of the state's online hiring center, to qualify as an HR User.

BACKGROUND CHECKThis position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
