Position SummaryGEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.Position DescriptionOur Engineer II in Developer Solutions Engineering will engineer solutions and empower the developer community with experiences, tools, and automated processes that reduce friction and improve developer satisfaction, flow, and cycle-times. This role will be heavily centered around engineer solutions with the goal to improve developer flow, reduce cycle times, and provide fast feedback loops. An important outcome of developer productivity engineering is to give developers hours back in the week in the developer experience so they can focus on accelerating solution delivery. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge supporting Full Stack development and developer productivity platforms with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.Position ResponsibilitiesScope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systemsEngage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycleBuild product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solutionParticipate in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organizationUtilize programming languages like GO, Java, Typescript, React, HTML, Python, C#, SQL, NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and servicesConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsQualificationsProgramming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Terraform or Ansible Tower.Experience with network design, development of new data centers (architecture, design, reliability, and scaling, performance and configuration)Experience writing highly complex data center spine and leaf architecture, routing protocols BGP and OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, SDN.Understanding of DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture and Azure DevOps Operational FrameworkExperience in Datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including on-prem data center, AWS or Azure platformUnderstanding of security protocols and products SSH, TACACS, Azure Active Directory.Knowledge of network tools gNMI, RESTCONF, Yang Model, ZTP, DHCP, Open-Source SONiC NOS (task management shell script building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Strong problem-solving abilityStrong oral and written communication skillsAnalysis and Estimation skillsAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentExperience5+ years of professional network development and support experience5+ years of experience with architecture and new data center network design5+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or on-prem data center experience5+ years of experience in open-source software, network operating systemsEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceCCNA and CCNP CertificationsCCIE is a plusAnnual Salary$75,000.00 - $215,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
