Responsibilities Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of affordable housing residents? We’re seeking an innovative and dedicated Director of Resident Services to lead and coordinate dynamic Resident Services programming across our portfolio. By working closely with the Property Operations team, you’ll ensure programs align with our mission and meet Community Engagement standards. As a key collaborator with the Property Operations team, you’ll provide training, guidance, and support for program development, implementation, and planning. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Related Affordable Property Management, with program guidance from the Vice President of Community Engagement, you’ll be at the forefront of driving meaningful change in residents’ lives. Responsibilities: Lead and oversee the Resident Services function, managing program implementation and providing training, hiring, and ongoing support for Resident Service Coordinators. Collaborate with the Community Engagement team and affordable housing residents to assess community needs through surveys, programs, and activities. Develop and execute a calendar of regional and national resident engagement events in partnership with the VP of Community Engagement. Serve as a resource for residents by building a comprehensive understanding of available community services, including behavioral and mental health support, and workforce development programs. Maintain a database of local resources for each property to ensure continuity of services and referrals. Create and implement localized service delivery plans tailored to meet residents' needs, driving community relations, service delivery, and volunteer development. Define responsibilities for internal and external service providers, oversee site-level programming, and ensure tasks and performance expectations are met to maintain strong third-party partnerships. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance reporting requirements while developing and monitoring measurable outcomes for Resident Services programs. Build and nurture relationships with resident associations, local government officials, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support community development efforts. Balance property-specific social service needs with operational budgets and available resources, ensuring programs are impactful and sustainable. Evaluate properties lacking Resident Service Coordinators, identify resident needs, and determine funding opportunities to support services or full-time roles. Represent Related Affordable at forums, public meetings, and community events, including resident kickoff meetings before renovation projects. Foster resident engagement by building trust and working closely with the Resident Services team and Director of Residential Marketing to ensure consistent communication and the effective dissemination of information. Compensation: $115,000 to $135,000 Annual bonus that is tied to performance Qualifications: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Healthcare or related field. Three (3)+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit, social service or public/government sector. Background in risk mitigation, trauma informed care, mental health, or substance abuse is a plus. Demonstrated success in managing teams and leading cross-functional projects effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong passion for social action, delivery of quality services and the preservation of affordable housing. Demonstrates accountability and reliability by taking full ownership of projects and outcomes, prioritizing precision and attention to detail, and approaching challenges with grit, resilience, and proactive problem-solving, while continuously engaging in learning and development to enhance performance; fosters collaboration and a resident-centered environment, ensuring empathy, respect, and cross-functional success in all interactions. Based onsite in the Chicago office, requiring local and multi-state travel to property locations as needed with occasional evening meetings with residents.
