Position Overview:
We're looking for a Director of Design who will bring innovation and creativity to our Beyond Yoga Design team, focusing on high impact workout apparel (Tennis, Run, Train) and experience with outerwear. We are looking for an individual who has a strong knowledge of performance fabrics, technologies and construction relative to high impact workout products. This individual will also be responsible for sketching but will also manage a direct report that would assist with sketching and tech pack.
About the Job
Reports into the VP of Design for Beyond Yoga
Develop seasonal design platforms and concepts
Identify consumer product opportunities through market and trend research
Create material, fabric, silhouette, and trim developments
Develop yarn dye and printed patterns and solid colors
Design products that accomplish goals for the seasonal calendar, assortment plan and source location requirements
Partner with fit developer to develop fit blocks as well as participate in fit reviews
Sustain partnerships with Merchandising and Product Development to ensure products are engineered to profit and quality/aesthetic goals
Manages direct report
Travel seasonally for trend and concept
Travel seasonally to work with Product Development and Factory partner teams on initial product designs
About You
Expert knowledge of apparel history, construction and a strong aesthetic point of view with the ability to filter through a brand lens
Bachelor’s degree in Design, however a combination of college education and related work experience may be used as a substitute
Minimum 10 years of experience as a designer, at least 5 years as a people manager, responsible and accountable for all facets of design and development.
Expertise in creating commercially viable and profitable product designs
Working knowledge of construction, textiles, hardware and processes
Flexibility with regards to job responsibilities
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Interpersonal and organizational skills
An energetic, positive, helpful demeanor and a passion and interest in LS&Co.
The expected starting salary range for this role is $142,100- $215,200. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance and business needs.
