Environmental Safety and Health Manager

Job purpose

Wincore's Health & Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing company's employee safety at work. The HSC's main duty is to ensure that the company is in compliance and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries and proactively establish a safe work environment.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan and implement OHS and EHS policies and programs
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
  • Lead Company from a transactional to a transformational safety program
  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis
  • Deliver and track completion of annual training requirements
  • Review existing safety policies and procedures
  • Lead Company's Safety Improvement Committee
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations
  • Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Conduct risk assessment
  • Enforce preventative measures
  • Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
  • Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential safety issues that could lead to injuries.
  • Develops, implements and sustains a world class, employee led safety program and culture.
  • Track recordable injuries (TRIR) and report trends on a monthly basis
  • Other duties as assigned by the EHS Director, COO and/or President.
Qualifications

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • OSHA 500-hour certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of legislations and procedures related to health and safety preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • 3 years' experience in producing reports required.
  • Experience writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Results oriented.
  • Commitment to integrity and accountability.
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to travel.
Working conditions
  • Typically work indoors in a production and office setting.
  • Exposed to sounds typically found in an office and manufacturing environment.
Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Spend numerous hours per day in a manufacturing plant.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer/telephone.
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE.
