Project Controls Manager

Purpose: The Project Controls Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting functions of engineering and construction projects. Desired Results: Ensure efficient project delivery by implementing effective project controls strategies, leading to successful planning, cost management, and timely completion of projects. Duties and Responsibilities: Project Planning and Scheduling: Work with the Project Controls Manager, Project Managers, Construction Managers, clients, and subcontractors to prepare all levels of EPC schedules, manpower plans, resource requirements and progress reporting. Provide analysis, recommendations (including corrective action and project execution alternatives) and effective forecasting related to plans, schedules, resource requirements, man-hour expenditures and physical progress. Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules to ensure realistic timelines. Incorporate contractors/subcontractor’s schedules into master schedule and manage the impacts across the whole project. Collaborate with project teams to establish achievable milestones. Monitor project progress and adjust schedules as needed. Cost Control and Budgeting: Establish and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Implement effective cost control measures and monitor expenditures. Provide accurate and timely reporting on project financial status. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project controls and performance. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages information sharing. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks to project timelines and budgets. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Regularly review risk registers and adjust plans accordingly. Change Management: Implement effective change control processes. Assess the impact of changes on schedules and budgets. Ensure proper documentation and communication of approved changes. Performance Analysis: Conduct regular analyses of project performance against established metrics. Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Analyze and report project controls data to senior management. Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of project controls principles, practices, and methodologies. Proficiency in project management software and tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred. Minimum of 15 years of experience in project controls within the engineering and construction industry. Project Management Professional (PMP) or relevant certification is an asset.
