Investigator The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Investigator position in the Office of Compliance, Investigations & Ethics. Under supervision within the Office of Compliance, Investigations & Ethics CIE Office, the Investigator will conduct internal University investigations concerning alleged violations of university policy. Three to five years investigative experience in law enforcement, private industry, journalism, human resources, compliance, or related field required. Strong written communication and PC skills necessary. Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with government regulation and investigation is preferred. Incumbent must demonstrate exception interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with multiple and diverse populations. Incumbent must demonstrate strong interviewing skills and the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations objectively and with the utmost confidentiality and tact. Strong organizational, analytical, and judgment skills required. Job Summary Investigates issues online and in-person on behalf of the University that are associated with regulatory, financial, legal, and personnel matters. Conveys audit, interview, and investigation findings; makes recommendations based on investigation. Essential Functions The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: Understanding University policies and procedures Conducting document review and witness interviews concerning alleged violations of University Policy Preparing interview reports and final reports of investigation Working collaboratively with other investigators and departments Physical Effort Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to use a computer at a desk or similar workstation, and travel to on-campus meetings as needed.
