Our client, The American Technion Society (ATS) is currently seeking a Director of Development, Los Angeles to join their growing organization. The position is based in the Los Angeles area and will require working from the Beverly Hills office at least twice a week. The American Technion Society The American Technion Society (ATS) supports visionary education and world-changing impact through the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Based in New York City, they represent thousands of US donors, alumni and stakeholders who invest in the Technion’s growth and innovation to advance critical research and technologies that serve the State of Israel and the global good. Over more than 80 years, their nationwide supporter network has funded new Technion scholarships, research, labs, and facilities that have helped deliver world-changing contributions and extend Technion education to campuses on three continents. ATS employs a staff of 70 that work from New York and in regional offices across the United States. YOUR ROLE As the Director of Development in the Los Angeles area, you are a driven and persuasive leader who thrives on building relationships and inspiring others to join our mission. Reporting to the ATS Regional Senior Director of Development, Western Region, this position will play a central role in helping to cultivate and engage new and existing constituencies to further develop ATS philanthropic activities across diverse groups located in Los Angeles. Your mission will be to develop a robust fundraising portfolio, cultivating significant gifts from influential individuals, families, and foundations in the greater Los Angeles area. This is an opportunity to explore new frontiers in philanthropy, supporting transformative research and innovation that shapes the future. The role requires strategic planning, relationship building, and the ability to influence and persuade diverse stakeholders to achieve and surpass our philanthropic goals. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Partner with the Regional Senior Director of Development, Western Region to enhance the American Technion’s Society’s presence in the Los Angeles area including the development of strategic annual and long-term fundraising plans. Engage in direct and systematic prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and foundations capable of giving at least $25,000. Analyze historic patterns of giving and develop strategies to encourage new gifts and identify new sources of revenue, as well as increase current contributions. Advance the presence of the American Technion Society through impactful activities and relationships that further the interaction with prospects and current supporters and be a key figure representing the Technion in these circles. Proactively partner with ATS and Technion colleagues in areas of prospect development, proposal development, and stewardship. Utilize the ATS database to maintain accurate records of all donor interactions, individuals’ programmatic interests, trends in giving and type of support to solicit. Travel throughout Los Angeles as well as periodic trips for professional meetings in the U.S. and to the Technion campus in Haifa. SKILLS and STRENGTHS A strategic thinker and self-starter who understands a vision of success and can translate it into a tactile plan. At least 5 years of quantifiable fundraising success with major gifts. Public speaking, networking, and negotiating skills; ability to connect with many different audiences. Experience working with or past relationships with foundations, entertainment industry, and/or real estate industry a plus. Passion for Israel and a strong connection to ATS’s mission. Prior non-profit experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree Experience with Microsoft Office suite along with Raiser’s Edge.
