The Junior Railcar Fleet Manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of railcar assets to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation. This position involves overseeing the maintenance, repair, leasing, scheduling, and utilization of the railcar fleet. The Railcar Fleet Manager works closely with maintenance teams, operations, logistics, commercial, finance, suppliers, and leasing companies to maximize railcar availability and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Fleet Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations and management of the railcar fleet, including leasing, maintenance, and inspection schedules. Ensure proper utilization of railcars across the network, optimizing asset use and minimizing downtime. Track and analyze fleet performance, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and reliability. Maintenance and Repair: Coordinate and manage railcar maintenance programs, ensuring timely repairs and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Collaborate with third-party maintenance providers and internal teams to prioritize maintenance activities. Monitor the condition of the fleet through inspections and repair records to ensure railcars are in optimal working condition. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all railcars meet industry regulations and safety standards, including FRA, AAR, and other relevant authorities. Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, and compliance-related activities. Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to fleet operations. Leasing and Procurement: Manage relationships with railcar leasing companies, negotiating contracts and monitoring lease terms and conditions. Work with procurement teams to source new railcars, parts, and services as needed to maintain or expand the fleet. Ensure cost-effective management of leasing arrangements and purchases, balancing operational needs and budget constraints. Logistics and Operations Coordination: Work closely with logistics and operations teams to ensure the availability of railcars to meet transportation schedules. Coordinate the movement and placement of railcars in alignment with customer needs and supply chain demands. Optimize fleet allocation to reduce idle time and transportation costs. Budgeting and Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the railcar fleet budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Provide financial reports related to fleet performance, maintenance costs, and lease expenditures. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze fleet performance metrics, such as utilization rates, repair frequency, and operational efficiency. Prepare and present regular reports on fleet status, maintenance schedules, and cost analysis to senior management. Use data to recommend improvements in fleet management processes and asset utilization. Scheduling and Collaboration: Assist team coordinators, maintenance planners, and related staff in helping schedule and handle day-to-day operations. Foster strong communication and collaboration between departments, including logistics, operations, commercial, and finance. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field Required Skills 1-3 years of railcar scheduling experience Oil and gas industry experience Waybilling railcars Excel Preferred Skills Managing or owning railcars Bi-lingual – Spanish
