Bradford Jacobs is assisting an enterprise drone technology firm focusing on drone development and a range of software solutions, including payment, plant tracking, compliance, and government auditing software as they look to hire a Business Development Manager - Defense contracts to join their business. Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with a strong background in securing government defense contracts and expertise in writing successful proposals, particularly for SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with small businesses to navigate the federal government contracting landscape, identifying opportunities, and developing compelling proposals that win contracts. Responsibilities: Opportunity Identification: Monitor and identify relevant defense contract opportunities on SAM.gov and other platforms. Networking & Relationship Building: Attend government defense trade shows and utilize LinkedIn to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the government contracting arena. Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal teams to refine the proposal process and create winning proposals that clearly articulate our value proposition. Proposal Library Development: Develop and maintain a scalable proposal library to streamline the proposal development process and facilitate content reuse. Content Creation: Craft clear, concise, and compelling content for proposals that align with government requirements and effectively showcase our capabilities. Mentorship & Guidance: Provide guidance to small businesses on best practices for winning federal opportunities and navigating the proposal process. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all proposals meet government regulations and standards while adhering to quality assurance protocols. Requirements; Proven experience in securing government defense contracts, particularly with small businesses. Previous experience in the private sector with major defense contractors is a plus. Strong understanding of the SBIR program and its application process. Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Proficient in proposal management software and tools. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail. Certifications; DAWIA Level III Certification in Contracting. Certified Professional Contract Manager (NCMA). Certified Grants Officer (Department of Defense). This is an on-site position based in Phoenix. Salary range upto $70,000 USD benefits & stock options.
