Who We Are Cristo Rey Orlando High School is located in Orlando, FL, and will be part of the national Cristo Rey Network. The school will open its doors to its inaugural freshmen class in the fall of 2025. Like all Cristo Rey schools, it will be a Catholic, college preparatory high school for students of all faiths from families of limited financial means. The school will be co-educational and will serve students of diverse backgrounds. We will help our students grow intellectually, academically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and morally. Who You Are At Cristo Rey Orlando High School, you will have the unique opportunity to guide students in a Business and Entrepreneurial Skills Development course, which will integrate leadership skills with practical business and management principles. You will be planning and implementing a comprehensive program that equips students with essential tools for success in both leadership and the business world. This course will focus on key areas such as business organization, communication, management, entrepreneurial principles, and job readiness. Your course will cover topics including various forms of business ownership, organizational structures, supervisory and management skills, leadership, human resources management, business ethics, and cultural diversity. Emphasis will be placed on job readiness and career development, where the use of computers and technology will play an integral role. As a passionate educator, you will foster personal growth by helping students develop self-awareness, goal setting, assertiveness, and the ability to navigate organizational theories and management practices. You will also support Cristo Rey Orlando’s Work Study program by preparing students with practical business, leadership, and interpersonal skills needed to excel in their professional environments. This Role Cristo Rey Orlando High School is seeking a dedicated Business and Entrepreneurial Skills Development teacher to join our innovative, mission-driven school that values both its faculty and students. In this role, you will plan and implement a comprehensive instructional program designed to equip students with essential leadership, career readiness, personal and professional growth, and business skills. You will cover areas such as business ownership, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, public speaking, group dynamics, management, and time and stress management. Your course will also incorporate entrepreneurial principles, including how to identify business opportunities, develop business plans, and understand the fundamentals of business start-ups. You will help students foster leadership qualities through team building, cultural awareness, and a deep understanding of ethical business practices. Your responsibilities include : Develop Business and Leadership Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, hands-on lessons that cover business fundamentals, leadership skills, communication, decision-making, and team dynamics. Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials, integrating business case studies, entrepreneurial challenges, and leadership theory. Practical Application: Integrate business and leadership training with the Cristo Rey Work Study program, helping students apply their skills in real-world professional and entrepreneurial environments. Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster a dynamic and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and the practical application of business and leadership concepts. Job Readiness and Career Development: Emphasize job readiness, including resume building, interviewing techniques, and professional communication, to prepare students for the corporate world. High Academic and Personal Expectations: Maintain high standards for all students, offering challenges and support for them to excel in both their academic and entrepreneurial pursuits. Family Engagement: Build strong partnerships with families to support student success through regular communication and collaboration. Student Support: Offer regular office hours and provide additional instruction and personalized guidance to help students overcome challenges in developing leadership and business skills. Behavior Management: Establish trust and rapport with students, managing classroom behavior to maintain a respectful and productive learning environment. Professional Development: Commit to continuous growth as an educator, collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, and actively seeking and providing feedback. Mission Commitment: Embrace and promote the school's mission to inspire and prepare students from underserved backgrounds to succeed in college and lead their communities as compassionate, competent, and confident individuals. Pastoral Involvement: Actively participate in the school's spiritual life, demonstrating care and pastoral support for students. School Community Participation: Engage fully in the school community, participating in supervision duties, retreats, special events, and contributing to the July summer student program. Other duties as assigned by the principal or in partnership with corporate work study Required Qualifications: You hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education, Business Management, Accounting, or a related field , with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. A Master’s Degree is a plus. You are able to pass a background screening. You’re proficient in using technology in the classroom to certify students in Microsoft word, power point, and excel while enhancing student learning in business ware applications. You’re committed to consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students. You maintain professional attire daily, contributing to a respectful and serious learning environment. You’re regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and climb stairs. You can operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment. Occasionally, you may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Preferred Experience and Skills You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in Business Management, Accounting, Business Education, or a related subject area. You hold certification or have training in business management, leadership education , or organizational management . You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience in business management, accounting, or entrepreneurship. Experience teaching leadership skills or working in professional development is a strong advantage. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive school culture that supports both teachers and students. Proven ability to develop and implement curriculum that aligns rigorous instruction and are well-prepared for leadership roles. Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic plans and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure student success. Proficient in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking to assess growth and improve curriculum effectiveness. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms essential for curriculum planning, communication, and data management. Salary Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Salary range is $60,000 - $65,000 annually. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, long-term disability insurance, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer matching contribution.
