Senior Manager Regulatory Affairs

The Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs will work closely with cross-functional leaders to develop and implement an effective and efficient regulatory system for domestic and international personal care products. · Ensure regulatory compliance for all product regarding formulation and packaging · Provide regulatory guidance, advice, risk analysis, and insight for future and existing products to achieve compliance and meet business objectives · Maintain current knowledge of domestic and international cosmetic product regulations as well as certification requirements · Oversee and ensure retailer-driven compliance initiatives are met · Ensure compliance with MORCA (Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022) · Supervise completion of applicable product filings for respective regions including Health Canada CNF, EU CPNP, California Safe Cosmetics Act, etc. · Review all marketing materials and content · Oversee external regulatory services to ensure timely product registrations, regulatory planning for new product introductions and product changes, and required corrective actions to meet regulatory compliance · Provide the regulatory plan, and guidance on risk assessment, and required corrective actions to meet regulatory requirements · Stay informed on regulatory changes and industry best practices in the U.S. & EU beauty markets · Provide strategic advice to internal teams on navigating regulatory updates and maintaining compliance · Participate in review of all promotional materials, including product labels, packaging, product claims and substantiation of the same · Develop and Implement Regulatory Training Programs: Provide training and support to internal teams on regulatory requirements, processes, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance across departments. · Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities to ensure smooth communication, timely submissions, and a proactive approach to regulatory changes. · Regulatory Process Improvement: Lead efforts to streamline regulatory processes, implement software tools or systems for compliance tracking, and enhance overall efficiency of regulatory workflows. · Documentation Management: Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation of all regulatory filings, compliance checks, and certifications for audits, inspections, or internal review. · Global Regulatory Strategy Development: Collaborate with product development, marketing, and quality teams to align regulatory strategy with global expansion efforts and market entry planning. Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other science discipline · 10-12 years of experience in regulatory affairs preferably in a cosmetic or personal care products company; additional experience in quality control is a plus · Must be a practitioner of and have a solid understanding of regulations surrounding cosmetics including FPLA (Fair Packaging and Labeling Act), FDC (Food, Drug, &Cosmetic Act), EU Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009, and Health Canada · Familiarity with notification streams including US & Canada OTC’s, Health Canada CNF, and EU CPNP is beneficial · Project Management: Experience managing complex regulatory projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, streamlining processes, and ensuring compliance for new product launches within tight deadlines. · Cross-Functional Communication: Strong ability to communicate regulatory requirements effectively across teams (e.g., Marketing, R&D, Product Development) and senior management. · Strategic Adaptability: Skilled at anticipating regulatory changes, providing proactive guidance, and managing adjustments with minimal disruption. · Advanced Certification: Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) preferred. · Analytical Skills: Proficient in conducting regulatory risk assessments and conveying findings clearly to relevant teams. · Digital Compliance Tools: Familiarity with regulatory software and digital tools for global compliance management. Pay: The annual salary for this position is between $120,000 - $140,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
