LHH is looking for a full-time Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location. Job Overview: The Senior Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations. The role involves advanced financial tasks, such as improving processes, ensuring compliance, and resolving escalated payment issues. The Senior AP Accountant also supports the finance team with month-end closing, audits, and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities: Invoice Management: Oversee the processing and review of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures. Payment Processing: Manage and execute payment runs (checks, ACH, and wire transfers) on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, ensuring timely payments to vendors. Vendor Management: Maintain vendor records, manage relationships with key suppliers, and resolve any escalated vendor issues or discrepancies. AP Reconciliation: Perform and review monthly AP account reconciliations, including aged payables and GR/IR (Goods Received/Invoice Received) account reconciliation. Expense Reporting: Review and approve employee expense reports in accordance with company policies, ensuring proper documentation and timely reimbursement. Month-End Closing: Assist with the month-end close by preparing journal entries related to accounts payable, accruals, and prepaid expenses. Reconcile AP-related accounts as part of the closing process. Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to the accounts payable process to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Streamline workflows and automate processes where possible. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable tax laws (e.g., 1099 reporting). Assist with internal and external audits related to AP processes and transactions. Data Analysis and Reporting: Prepare and analyze AP-related reports, including aging reports, cash flow projections, and spending trends. Provide insights to senior management as needed. Team Leadership and Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior AP staff. Assist in training team members and serve as the primary point of contact for complex accounts payable issues. Vendor and Payment Audits: Conduct periodic audits of vendor accounts and payment processes to ensure accuracy, prevent fraud, and enhance financial controls. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Strong understanding of AP processes, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks). Advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
