Head of Software Engineering – Renewable Energy Location: El Segundo, California, United States Package: $200,000 - $250,000 Stock Options Health Benefits Flexible PTO We are partnering with a pioneering startup based, that is developing a portable, new-age microreactor. This cutting-edge technology aims to replace existing style generators for sectors across the board from military bases to microgrids and more. Utilizing modern software engineering, the company is on a fast track to demonstrate the first fuelled operation of a new commercial nuclear reactor design in just two years. Your Role: As the Head of Software Engineering, you will lead and grow the software engineering organization, there is already a of engineers to build upon. However, with good funding a their first product to be launched within the next two years this going to be a rapidly growing position and team. The position would suit a hands on Director level engineer looking to take a step up into a Head of role, or an experienced Head of looking to join a scaling series B company on this exciting journey. Responsibilities: - Recruit, lead, and expand a high-performing software team. - Manage the software development timeline, budget, and strategy in alignment with company objectives. - Promote a collaborative work environment focused on responsible engineering practices. - Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and leadership to understand business requirements and convert them into dependable solutions. - Oversee the design and scaling of the DevOps infrastructure. Required Skills and Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field. - Over 4 years of experience in software development. - At least 3 years of experience in leading software teams. Desired Skills and Qualifications: - Proven experience in developing software for hardware products from concept through production. - Experience in leading and mentoring software managers. - Demonstrated success in leading high-performance software teams and managing software operations, best practices, methodologies, and tools. - Experience in multidisciplinary technical environments addressing complex and ambiguous problems. - Ability to switch seamlessly between deep technical problem-solving and strategic planning. - Proficiency with AWS. - A strong interest in advancing nuclear energy technology.
