Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an Inventory Control Specialist Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego HQ office at 7625 Panasonic Way San Diego, CA and reports to the Materials Manager. BASIC PURPOSE: Overseeing and managing the stock levels and status of goods and products in the organization's warehouses and storage facilities. This role ensures that inventory is accurately tracked, stored, and accounted for, helping to streamline supply chain operations and prevent issues such as expired material, overstocking or stockouts. The Inventory Control Specialist uses inventory management software and techniques to monitor stock levels/expiration dates/material out-time, perform audits, and ensure the timely replenishment of inventory as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Inventory Management Track the movement of goods through various stages of inventory (receiving, storing, picking, manufacturing, machining, packing, and shipping). Perform regular inventory counts, reconciling physical inventory with recorded stock levels. Monitor shelf-life, out-time and ensure application of first-in-first-out inventory. Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure the efficient use of stock and avoid overstocking or stockouts. Data Entry and Reporting Assist with transitioning non-inventoried items to inventory controlled, with lot/batch tracking. Accurately record inventory transactions in the inventory management system (Oracle NetSuite). Generate and analyze reports on stock levels, usage, and order history. Provide recommendations for improvements in transactional entry accuracy, communication and inventory auditing. Inventory Audits Conduct periodic cycle counts or full physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between actual stock and recorded inventory levels using root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis) Warehouse Organization Ensure inventory is stored in an organized and accessible manner, facilitating easy retrieval and minimizing errors. Implement best practices for inventory storage, shelf labeling, and product identification. Support and implement a 5S and visual factory culture. Process Improvement Identify areas for improvement in inventory management processes and work with management to implement changes. Utilize automated tools and inventory management software to streamline processes and improve accuracy. Assist in the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Cross-Department Collaboration Work closely with purchasing, operations and engineering to align inventory levels with demand and business needs. Coordinate with all manufacturing sites to share best practices. Communicate any inventory shortages or excesses to relevant departments in a timely manner. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 2 years in Inventory Control Impeccable attention to detail Ability to organize and handle multiple, concurrent tasks Continual improvement focused Solid decision-making skills Excellent communication skills including the ability to interface with all business units: management, purchasing, operations, engineering, finance, quality and business development. Strong capability with MS Office Suite, including capability with creating, editing and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets. Experience with ERP/MRP software for inventory transactions, including builds, inventory transfer , fulfillments, receipts, bin and location transfers. Specific experience with Oracle NetSuite is a plus. Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, company policy and procedure instructions. Ability to write general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions Ability to interpret and provide a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS (NOT REQUIRED) General knowledge of composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, prepreg) Experience with AS9100 quality system requirements Demonstrated leadership improving operational efficiency and team direction.
