General Counsel

The General Counsel will oversee corporate and legal matters, provide expert guidance on business development and financing transactions, and support the company’s growth by ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in driving legal strategy, managing risk, and fostering collaboration across the management team. The General Counsel will also have the opportunity to build out the legal department as the company scales. Responsibilities Negotiate and draft contracts and agreements, including customer, vendor, employment, and licensing contracts. Provide strategic legal advice on a wide range of corporate, regulatory, and compliance matters. Develop and implement legal policies and procedures, ensuring training and awareness for all employees. Manage risk, resolve disputes, and oversee ongoing litigation. Monitor and advise on changes in laws and regulations, particularly those affecting the company’s industry. Oversee and provide guidance on collections and creditors’ rights. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company initiatives. Qualifications Active and in good standing with the CA State Bar. J.D. degree from an accredited law school. Minimum 5 years of litigation experience; preference for experience in food or commodity trading industries. Expertise in employment law and commercial contract negotiation. Familiarity with real estate law is a plus. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
