Position Summary: ScaleWRX is seeking an experienced and highly capable Plant Manager to grow and lead our production team and drive the success of our manufacturing operations based in Reno, Nevada. This key leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in manufacturing management, who can establish and maintain high performance standards, foster a positive work environment, and ensure the delivery of quality products. Most importantly, ScaleWRX is a manufacturing startup and requires a Plant Manager that has the ability to build key processes and systems from the ground up in order to accommodate high growth. This position is on-site (not a remote position), with potential relocation options for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: 1. Manufacturing Process: Oversee and optimize all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production methods and equipment performance. Apply Continuous Improvement (CI) manufacturing principles to improve operational systems, processes, and policies from a crawl, walk, run approach. Manage production KPIs and implement programs to monitor and improve them. 2. Safety: Foster a Safety-First culture and ensure compliance with all OSHA guidelines, including those related to forklift operation, material handling, machine guarding, hand tool usage, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Develop and implement safety protocols and training programs to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. 3. Scheduling and Planning: Leverage data from our MRPeasy software as well as inputs from the Engineering and Installation teams to optimize production scheduling against agreed upon project delivery dates. Analyze production reports for velocity, quality and safety to develop improvement plans and communicate required actions to plant management and production staff. 4. Hiring, Management, and Retention of Employees: Hire, train, coach, and review performance of hourly employees, ensuring they are equipped and motivated to perform their duties effectively. Manage employee performance through regular reviews and developmental activities, fostering a positive and productive working environment. Work with HR on employee disciplinary issues, terminations, and recruitment to build a high-performance organization. 5. Coordination with Engineering, Sales, and Installation Teams: Collaborate with the engineering and installation teams to develop and implement process improvements and ensure capabilities of the production process. Assist with product development by working with sales, engineering and installation teams to provide the manufacturing perspective on next generation products. 6. Quality Control: Oversee the development and establishment of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, ensuring proper training and implementation throughout all production areas. Maintain and improve quality standards in cutting, assembly, and packaging for shipment. Conduct root cause investigations to address quality and scrap issues, developing effective corrective actions for non-conformance issues. 7. Freight and Logistics: Manage the packing of finished goods and coordinate the loading of trucks for shipment to customer sites. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, to facilitate smooth logistics operations. Monitor and optimize freight processes to improve efficiency and reduce operating expenses. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team in a manufacturing environment. General knowledge regarding capacity planning including ERP/MRP and Manufacturing Processing Systems (MPS) is preferred. Demonstrated experience with creating and revising site documentation to improve operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, ERP Systems, and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma. Experience with MRPeasy is preferred. Basic understanding and working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools. Ability to use a forklift. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Exposure to loud noises, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations in a warehouse environment. Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shifts, including weekends if needed. Ability to lift, push, pull, and slide packages typically weighing up to 50 lbs. Repetitive lifting, bending, and twisting. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, climbing, and other active movements. Ability to work all shifts, prolonged periods on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent movements.
