Position Overview: The Senior Tax Specialist assists clients in preparing and filing their tax returns accurately and on time. This role involves understanding tax laws, identifying deductions and credits, and ensuring clients maximize their tax refunds or minimize their tax liabilities. Tax Preparers work closely with individuals and small businesses. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and File Tax Returns: Gather client information, calculate taxes owed or refunds due, and complete tax forms for submission. Review Financial Records: Analyze financial statements, income, and expense records to ensure accurate tax preparation. Stay Updated on Tax Laws: Keep abreast of changes in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Identify Deductions and Credits: Advise clients on potential deductions, tax credits, and other strategies to minimize tax liabilities. Ensure Compliance: Verify accuracy of data and ensure tax filings comply with legal standards and regulations. Provide Client Support: Answer client inquiries, offer tax advice, and address any concerns regarding their tax situation. Handle IRS Correspondence: Assist clients with audits, notices, and any other communication from tax authorities. Maintain Confidentiality: Safeguard client data and maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial information. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Certification: Enrolled Agent (EA) is advantageous; CPA is a plus. Experience: Prior experience with high volume tax preparation and processing. Knowledge: Strong understanding of tax preparation software and tax laws. Skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and customer service skills; attention to detail; ability to work under pressure, especially during tax season.
