Position Summary: The Controller will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the company including daily operations, information flow, and financial close. They will work hand-in-hand with our business unit leaders, who will rely on them to think strategically and provide business insights that drive maximum value.

Essential Function and Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform and manage all aspects of the financial function including budgeting and forecasting, internal and external reporting, financial controls, tax compliance and audit coordination, capital expenditures, cash management, and accounts receivable and accounts payable activity.
  • Manage the month-end close duties including, but not limited to: recording, reconciling, and analyzing general ledger accounts and transactions which drive the monthly management and investor and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Oversee and perform daily operational functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury activities.
  • Research, document, and maintain accounting policies as new accounting issues emerge.
  • Coordinate with external audit team and assist with annual financial statement audits and tax compliance.
  • Develop and implement process and system improvements, where appropriate, to capture value through improving efficiency, leveraging technology, and reducing waste.
  • Execute the post-acquisition financial integration process for acquisitions, if applicable
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to establish annual objectives, financial plans and budgets, and compliance with corporate governance practices.
  • Partner with business unit leaders in monthly business reviews of costs versus plans. Communicate trends to understand key business drivers; develop and track key performance indicators.
  • Develop and execute management reporting tools to drive effective business decisions, using information and data from other business units as necessary.
  • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required)
  • Follow company policy and procedures which protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with established security standards and best practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned to ensure client and company success.
Position Requirements:
  • Five to eight years of proven experience as a Controller or in a similar role.
  • Minimum of two years public accounting experience.
  • BS/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MS/MA is a plus.
  • CPA or other relevant qualification is preferred.
  • Previous experience with acquisitions and consolidations is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, rules and regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • An analytical mind with strategic ability.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • This is a remote position with the expectation of travel to meet the needs of the position. Work is completed in a general office environment, sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The work environment is favorable with adequate lighting and temperature, and no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Must be able to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Maximum unassisted lift = 25 lbs. Average lift less than 10 lbs.

Work Location:

This is a remote/hybrid opportunity and the ideal candidate will reside within a one hour radius of the office located in South Bend, IN.
