The Marketing + Content Director is a strategic thinker, responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing the marketing strategy to grow audience, attendee, and advertiser database size for this portfolio. This role leverages a broad range of digital marketing tactics as well as content strategy to grow audience and sales, event attendee, and branded content revenue pillars for the portfolio. The Marketing Director will monitor and measure effectiveness in real-time, making strategic choices with your team about when to pivot to ensure organizational and financial goals are being met across campaigns and events. In addition, you’ll oversee the marketing technology stack used across the department to find ways to leverage new tools and create more efficient marketing processes and user experiences. The Marketing + Content Director manages a team of in-house staff, freelancers, and agencies to execute strategy across this broad portfolio, and will need to be comfortable getting “hands on” to own tactical tasks alongside the team. This role requires a confident leader who can effectively delegate work, collaborate with other portfolio leaders, mentor junior team members, and foster a creative, innovative environment that actively incorporates new marketing techniques to drive results. This position can be performed from any of our US-based offices or remotely from anywhere within the US. Responsibilities Develop and execute a data-driven, results-focused marketing strategy to drive both audience and advertiser database growth across the portfolio including SEO strategy, radio and TV campaigns, email marketing, paid and organic social and search ads, website promotions, and other means Plan and execute programs to develop new audience, drive lead generation and advertiser list growth through development of digital funnels, creation of demand generation and lead nurturing programs, media and sales kit development, and other means Plan and oversee event marketing needs including creation of materials such as the exhibitor prospectus, show guide, and exhibitor guides, promotional campaigns to drive attendee and sponsor inquiries, and development of attendee and sponsor newsletters Plan and oversee attendee event registration including attendee pricing strategy, budgeting, and reporting. Oversee expo and conference content, training + education session development. Monitor campaign, engagement & lead generation trends/performance and against KPIs and offer recommendations and direction on key areas of improvement and optimization Develop high-level marketing communication strategies and manage copy and design teams on messaging and branding Lead the portfolio’s communications and brand awareness efforts. Collaborate with Sales leaders to develop new product offerings and pricing models that minimize operational costs, maintain healthy margins, and create value for advertisers Build, manage, reforecast and allocate revenue & expense budgets across each project in the portfolio Overall in-house enterprise marketing automation expertise, offering guidance and finding creative solutions to marketing problems utilizing available marketing technology Support event operations teams with logistics and execution of on-site marketing needs Lead the content, branded content and affiliate marketing strategy for the portfolio managing the editorial team and collaborating with sales. Build an annual brand operating plan collaborating with portfolio leadership on growth strategies and managing the marketing team to reach the plan’s objectives, financial targets and the implementation of the plan’s key strategies. Qualifications Experience leading the development and execution of strategic multi-channel marketing initiatives for content channels, publications, and events; preference for technology-related product/industry experience A track record of success leading a team to execute complex goals across multiple products in a portfolio while fostering collaboration and skill growth Strategy leader with demonstrated success in driving audience and lead growth through a broad range of digital marketing techniques and tools, SEO strategy, as well as lead gen strategies and marketing database management Highly goal-driven with a strong sense of urgency, with a balance of leading and “doing” – skilled and unafraid of addressing any elements of a campaign from overarching strategy to campaign-delivery detail. Experience successfully using complex marketing tools to execute campaigns and drive operational efficiencies (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Pardot, and others) Experience defining and translating data into actionable insights that influence marketing strategy Creative mindset with a history of conceiving new and innovative ways to reach a target audience with a focus on continuously building, testing, and refining strategies Proactive, independent work style that demonstrates the ability to effectively prioritize, multitask, and identify potential challenge areas with limited oversight Ability to build relationships and collaborate successfully with multiple functional groups (sales, editorial, etc) Strong financial background with experience making strategic decisions about how to scale revenue and expenses to ensure organizational and financial goals are being met across projects and events ABOUT EMERALD Emerald’s talented and experienced teams grow our customers’ businesses 365 days a year with products that create connections, deliver content, and drive commerce. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Target Compensation: $115,000-120,000 Please note that this range reflects a reasonable estimate of the target compensation for this position. This range may ultimately vary based on a candidate’s qualifications and may be higher where required by applicable law.
