Airport Operations Superintendent I/II

Airport Operations Superintendent I/II may be assigned to or rotate amongst sections within the Airport Operations Division including Airside, Landside, Terminal/Customer Service, or Security Sections. Programs within these sections over which the Airport Operations Superintendent I/II may have managerial responsibilities include airfield operations, Manager-On-Duty, noise monitoring, emergency planning, general aviation, public parking, airport shuttle and ground transportation, parking and curbside traffic control, terminal management, customer experience and services, security compliance, airport identification badging, and Airport Operations Center (AOC) functions.
This position may require the supervision of a large number of staff and requires an individual who can provide a high level of leadership and supervision. Additionally, the position may interact regularly with Airport customers, contractors, tenants, government agencies, and other City departments. Successful candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, program/project management capabilities, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
The Airport Operations Superintendent I/II positions typically work Monday through Friday day shifts, but may periodically work different shifts, covering twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays, to ensure subordinate staff receive appropriate supervision. The Airport Operations Superintendent I/II position also provides twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays, stand-by support to vended services and the Manager-on-Duty position.
This position requires the ability to interpret complex regulations and a strong knowledge of various computer programs and software such as Microsoft Office as well as a variety of proprietary computer systems, databases, and software. A strong technical background or a demonstrated ability to learn new technology is preferred. Previous, demonstrated work experience in Airport Operations at a Certificated Commercial Service Airport is highly desired.
Salary:
The final candidate’s qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay, which is included in the range below.
Airport Operations Superintendent I
salary range is $125,077.68 - $152,377.6 annually. Airport Operations Superintendent II
salary range is $144,646.32 - $176,226.96 annually.

Education and Experience Airport Operations Superintendent I Bachelor’s degree in aviation or closely related field AND four (4) years of experience in the aviation field, including two (2) years at the level of Airport Operations Supervisor I or higher.
Airport Operations Superintendent II Bachelor’s degree in aviation or closely related field AND two (2) certifications from an airport industry professional organization AND six (6) years of experience in the aviation field, including two (2) years at the level of Airport Operations Superintendent I.
Required Licensing: Incumbents are required to complete and pass a TSA mandated, Criminal History Records Check and a Security Threat Assessment. California Driver's License. Obtain an Airport issued Ramp Drivers Permit and Movement Area Operating Permit within 6 months of employment.
