Primary Purpose:
Coordinate the collection and reporting of district data to the Texas Education Agency for all required Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS) and TSDS Collections.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or five (5) years related work experience.
Two years of work experience in technical support, system analyst, or training role with student and/or business management software.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive knowledge of the PEIMS Data Standards.
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
Extensive knowledge of the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook.
Extensive knowledge of TEC Chapter 37.
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain and organize data for completion of documents for government applications.
Ability to train staff in small and large group settings.
Ability to develop and implement policy and procedures.
Creative and collaborative problem-solving skills.
Work habits include being reliable, flexible, punctual and a self-starter.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion.
Experience: Four years’ experience in school district administrative support position requiring collecting and entering data; experience using coding systems.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS and TSDS Core Collection submission according to TSDS Data Standards. Responsible for the submission of fall, mid-year, summer, and extended year programs reports to the state, in conjunction with all core collections. Run edits, reports and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction. Comply with the district standards for Texas and Federal attendance accounting laws and procedures in the Texas Student Attendance Accounting Handbook and the PEIMS Data Standards. Responsible for assigning Texas State Service IDs for all state approved courses as described in the PEIMS Data Standards. Responsible for data quality in compliance with Performance Based Monitoring. Responsible for Unique ID (UID) processes described in the PEIMS Data Standards. Responsible for PET reporting (PID enrollment tracking) as required by TEA PEIMS. Understanding of Student Information Systems/Finance/HR management systems as they relate to PEIMS. Develop and maintain a strong sense of customer service. Communicate with various stakeholders including campus personnel, district and state administrators, other Districts’ PEIMS personnel, and software vendors. Verify that PEIMS Helpdesk Tickets are completely covered. Responsible for verifying the training materials created by PEIMS specialist. Assist with training staff on Texas and Federal laws and procedures in Discipline Management and Reporting as described in the PEIMS Data Standards. Assist with training staff on Texas and Federal Limited English Proficiency Data Management laws and procedures as described in the PEIMS Data Standards. Assist with training and monitoring campus personnel on TREx submissions. Verify the accuracy of the reports produced by PEIMS department.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying.
