The Team You’ll Work With

NYC Talent is responsible for the City’s talent and workforce development system that benefits city residents, employers, and the economy. NYC Talent seeks new and effective ways to scale and sustain productive public/private partnerships, to develop and match talent to promising careers, to align education, career preparation and skills training programs across City government, and to coordinate program and fiscal data across stakeholders to provide a comprehensive view of the talent system.

The Problems You’ll Solve

NYC Talent is seeking an

Executive Director of Data & Impact

to lead officewide data strategy and related data collection, analysis, and reporting needs. The Executive Director will work with program teams to develop and operationalize analytics and data storytelling for initiatives such as the NYC Apprenticeship Accelerator, sector-specific Industry Partnerships, Youth Employment, and Jobs NYC, a citywide effort to reduce barriers to economic opportunities.

The Executive Director will leverage data to design and implement data systems and dashboards to monitor workforce programming across the system and document progress toward strategic citywide goals. The role will work with a diverse range of complex quantitative and qualitative data and relevant stakeholders, including government agencies and education institutions, to improve jobseeker outcomes citywide.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collecting, extracting, reviewing, analyzing and visualizing complex data sets relating to NYC’s economy and workforce.

Examining publicly available labor, education, and economic data sets to identify relevant data sources.

Working with service delivery organizations to validate NYC Talent’s understanding of the labor market.

Leading NYC Talent’s survey design, collection, analysis, and reporting.

Managing evaluative findings of priority City workforce development initiatives.

Conducting data research independently and collaboratively.

Developing and maintaining dashboards using software, such as Airtable, Tableau, or Power BI.

Representing NYC Talent at interagency meetings.

Developing training materials and conducting training on data reporting.

Developing a reporting strategy for key NYC Talent initiatives.

Leading production of reports for NYC Talent, including quarterly labor market reports.

Managing junior staff and third-party consultants as needed.

Performing other duties as assigned.

About You

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

You are a New York City resident within 90 days of employment.

You are authorized to work within the United States.

You have strong writing skills and excellent computer skills.

You are detail oriented, with excellent organization, planning, coordination, and multi-tasking skills.

You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.

You have experience handling confidential information.

You have relevant experience with labor market information or workforce development.

You have experience with data visualization and reporting tools.

You have knowledge of statistical programming languages.

You have 6-10 years of relevant professional leadership experience and a bachelor’s degree, or 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills:

You have 3 or more years of managerial experience.

You have familiarity with the City’s compliance reporting requirements.

You have strong oral and visual communication skills.

You have an advanced degree in a relevant discipline.

Salary

The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is

$120,000 to $160,000 .
