Recognizing that disparities in academic opportunity deny children of color this freedom, Diane and Alan Page established the Foundation in 1988 to create heroes through education and service. Our mission is to support Minnesota’s students of color in their pursuit of higher education through financial assistance, while encouraging them to give back by fostering literacy and learning among younger children in their communities.Position Summary:We seek an experienced and motivated Development Director to lead and enhance our fundraising efforts, working closely with the Executive Director. This role oversees our comprehensive fundraising strategy—including individual, corporate, and foundation giving, grant writing, marketing correspondence including leading appeals and campaigns, donor relations, special events, and sponsorships—to support and expand our mission and impact.Key Responsibilities:Fundraising Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals, prioritizing grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and individual giving opportunities.Leadership and Team Collaboration:
Foster a collaborative environment by guiding and educating team members and board members on effective fundraising practices.Donor Relations:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors and stakeholders, while identifying new prospects. Implement personalized stewardship plans to promote donor retention and engagement.Grant Management:
Oversee all grant processes, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with requirements. Proactive research grant opportunities to diversify funding.Major Gifts:
Lead efforts to secure major gifts, including engaging high-net-worth individuals. Develop recognition and engagement strategies for key donors.Corporate Partnerships:
Build partnerships with corporations to secure sponsorships and philanthropic support. Cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with corporate donors.Event Coordination:
Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, overseeing logistics, volunteer coordination, and promotional efforts to maximize support.Budget Oversight:
Manage the development budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet fundraising targets.Communications and Marketing:
Create and refine fundraising materials—including appeal letters, reports, sponsorship brochures, campaign content, and donor acknowledgments—aligned with brand standards.Data Management:
Maintain accurate grant, donor, and prospect data in Salesforce; oversee data entry and gift processing, providing support when needed.Data Analysis:
Track and analyze fundraising metrics to assess effectiveness, making data-informed recommendations to enhance strategies.Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure adherence to all fundraising regulations, obtain necessary permits and accreditations, and prepare regular progress reports for the executive team and board.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, marketing, business, and related fields.Proven track record in fundraising with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in non-profit development and a leadership role.Hybrid-weekly schedule, minimum 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote work from home.Available for in-person events, work some weekends, and evenings.Knowledge of fundraising software and database management systems.Possess digital literacy or confidence, the willingness to learn new technology and software.Exceptional interpersonal and self-awareness skills, with the ability to lead confidently while also following directions and supporting team goals as needed.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and project management skills.Team-oriented personality embraces working with others and thrives in interdependent environments.Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-heavy environment, with flexibility to support numerous events as part of the role.Ability to take part in the set up and take down of events, and lift or move up to 50 lbs.Available to travel.Valid driver’s license.Preferred:Experience working effectively in an intimate and collaborative team environment.Demonstrated commitment to education, diversity, equity, and inclusion.Experience with CRM Salesforce/Nonprofit Success Pack.Experience with online platforms & software: Mailchimp, WordPress, AI online tools, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X/formerly Twitter, OneCause fundraising platform.Ability to model professional, courteous, respectful, kind, and inclusive behavior consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.Demonstrates leadership by example, inspiring others through actions rather than directives.The ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a positive, focused manner, and remain composed under stress.Strong work ethic with proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks independently.Familiarity with Minnesota higher education system and institutions.Ability building and maintaining effective relationships across a multi-generational workforce.How to Apply:
