Functional Project Manager

to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Functional Project Manager to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals and coordinate various managers and technical personnel during all project phases, from initial development through implementation. Create detailed work plans, timelines, resource plans, and status reports. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies. Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams to ensure effective delivery of solutions. Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and support to team members. Facilitate team and stakeholder meetings, providing detailed and clear project status updates. Mentor and provide guidance to junior project managers and other team members. Identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project. Develop strategies to mitigate project risks and resolve issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Ensure proactive identification and management of project issues. Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs. Conduct post-project evaluations and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Prepare and maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, risk logs, and change logs. Provide regular project updates to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure that projects comply with IT governance standards, policies, and best practices. Promote continuous improvement by implementing best practices in project management and IT functional delivery. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. 6 years of experience in project management with a focus on managing functional projects. Required Skills Experience leading Communications and Training federal projects. Understanding of IT systems and business processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong experience with PMO. Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of complexity. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with project management software tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello). Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. Experience with training junior members of your team. Strong communication skills with previous experience working with high-ranking personnel. Experience working as a technical writer. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent. Desired Skills Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies. Advanced degree (Master's) in a related field. Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company’s business (e.g., finance, healthcare, manufacturing). Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in IT. Previous experience mentoring and guiding junior project managers. Security Clearance Eligible to obtain a Public Trust.
