Trust and Estate Specialist
Regular Full-Time, San Diego, CA, US 9 days ago, Requisition ID: 3079 Salary Range: $27.30 To $30.86 Hourly Summary: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Planned Giving, the Trust and Estate Specialist is responsible for administering planned gifts in which Father Joe’s Villages is a beneficiary and for fostering growth of the planned giving program. The Trust and Estate Specialist will have demonstrable experience analyzing complex documents, drafting memos and correspondence, implementing a file management system, and working cooperatively with colleagues, donors, and legal and financial professionals. The Trust and Estate Specialist is also responsible for maintaining a tracking system on Raiser’s Edge, developing a marketing strategy and creating collateral for planned giving, updating the legacy website through Crescendo, and cultivating Legacy Society membership through engagement and activities. Essential Functions: Analyzes wills, trusts, and financial records for estate plans in which Father Joe’s Villages is a named beneficiary. Drafts legal memos and professional correspondence. Implements planned giving procedures and record systems. Completes financial forms and other documents related to the distribution of inherited assets. Engages with trustees, executors, attorneys, financial professionals and family members as needed throughout the trust and probate administration process. Develops and maintains a data tracking system on Raiser’s Edge. Aids the Senior Director of Planned Giving in planning and implementing activities, events and communications for the Legacy Society. Collaborates with and assists frontline fundraisers in the facilitation of planned gifts and blended solicitations. Works cooperatively with the finance department on issues related to the valuing and recognition of planned gifts. Collaborates with the Senior Director of Planned Giving to develop and implement a marketing strategy, including preparation of collateral, drafting monthly e-newsletters and keeping the legacy website current. On-time completion of assigned training and policies. Attendance and assistance at certain events, including the annual Thanksgiving Day 5k. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or associate degree and at least 4 - 6 years of experience. Paralegal or administrative assistant experience in the area of planned giving, financial planning or estate planning is preferred. Knowledge of legal processes (particularly probate) and experience working with attorneys and financial professionals is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). User of Raiser’s Edge and/or Crescendo is preferred. Skills/Abilities: Excellent listening, verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with particular sensitivity and care for the elderly; demeanor and comfort interacting with donors, organizational leadership, Board members and cross-organizational co-workers; self-starter with strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects; communicates and incorporates Father Joe’s Villages core values into daily work.
