Director of Commercialization , you will be responsible for the holistic view and execution of Commercialization; inclusive of vision, discovery, delivery, go-to-market (GTM) and directly managing and developing your team of Product Owners ensuring a strong product culture. You and your team of Product Owners will be responsible for conducting research, devising innovative ideas, requirements, and roadmaps, working with the GTM teams to successfully launch new platform builds and customer experiences, measuring their in-field performance against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and implementing improvement strategies and tactics. As the
Director of Commercializatio n, you determine what the product team builds, the investment needed, and the KPIs tied to usage and quality of user experience. You are responsible and accountable for the platform vision, strategy, delivery, and the success of the platform build and customer experiences in the market. This role is an opportunity to shape the future direction of McGraw Hill's platform strategy and delivery for the higher education market, specifically transforming our Commercialization strategy.
This is a remote position, open to applicants within the United States and requires up to 25% travel for the year. What you will do: Responsible for partnering with the Head of Platform and Product Delivery to develop a multiyear platform and customer experience strategy supporting new business models that drive profitability for the organization. Responsible for partnering with the Head of Platform and Product Delivery to lead and manage a team in the execution of a multiyear platform strategy supporting new business models and quality customer experiences. Responsible for recruiting, managing, developing, and retaining formidable team talent. Own business cases supporting platform strategy; inclusive of investment, defining KPIs, obtaining approval, operationalizing, and executing the business cases. Partner with business and product leadership to create a market-focused development roadmap that delivers customer value and maximizes revenue opportunities. Own the success of platform delivery and quality of experience delivered to market. Partner with business, marketing, and other stakeholders on all aspects of the GTM Plan for new features, including but not limited to data capture needed, timeline of release to customers, training, and communication to internal and external customers. Own market and user research to gain a deep understanding of customer needs, challenges, and motivations as well as, market segmentation & the competitive landscape as it relates to platforms and functionality. Leverage data throughout product lifecycle to make informed decisions, inform innovative ideas, and create superior experiences for customers. Partner with technical and product leaders across the organization to align strategy and platform investments. Operate at both the strategic and tactical levels and form a strong cross-team partnerships that cultivate strong product culture and ensure combined success for the product organization. We're looking for someone who has: Bachelor's degree (an advanced degree is preferred) 5-10 years experience in product management or related field Experience leading a team Experience managing and delivering multiple projects to deadline and budget simultaneously Experience with and desire for frequent customer/user interaction Professional experience designing and conducting user research plans Experience managing vendors and working within the budget Data-driven mentality with focus on analyzing and synthesizing financial, usage, and/or research data to understand market trends and product performance to create data-informed strategies. Certification as an Agile product owner and/or demonstrated success managing software platforms and tools with significant growth or revenue responsibility Experience with Google Analytics, Web Trends or Salesforce reporting Experience working with Engineers to make product decisions on behalf of customers Experience delivering highly complex software products from inception to launch Deep understanding of higher education market, customer experience, business modelling, GTM capabilities, commercialization, & platform delivery Professional knowledge of data analysis software such as Tableau and/or Alteryx Strong technical understanding, with the ability to establish credibility with engineers (preferred) Experience in accessibility & WCAG guidelines (preferred) The work you do at McGraw Hill, will be work that matters.
