Supervising Transportation Engineer
in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to function as the City's technical expert in the traffic engineering field with responsibility for administrative and technical work in traffic engineering; for planning, design and specification writing; and for ensuring contract compliance with specifications and engineering standards. A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil or traffic engineering and five years of increasingly responsible professional traffic engineering experience, three years of which were at a level equivalent to the Associate Transportation Engineer class. Other requirements include possession of a
valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or professional Civil Engineer . California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer is preferred. Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. Applications must include a completed application and responses to the supplemental questionnaire. Please note that resumes are not a substitute for a completed application.
