Position Summary The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) seeks a mission-oriented, people-centered leader with the ability to work collaboratively across a complex institution as its next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Today, UIW is the largest Catholic university in Texas and serves approximately 10,000 students globally. UIW is a Hispanic-Serving Institution with 54% of its students coming from Hispanic/Latino heritage. The institution has grown into a large, complex university with 11 colleges and schools that offer more than 125 majors, minors, and concentrations at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs must be a leader with significant administrative experience in higher education, including at least three years of experience in a dean’s position or higher, and a demonstrated ability to advocate for a diverse set of academic disciplines. This individual must have a passion for UIW’s mission to educate men and women who will become concerned and enlightened citizens within the global community and an understanding of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution and an academic record suitable for appointment at the rank of full professor. Qualifications Strong strategic planning skills and an understanding of current and future trends impacting higher education. Leadership style that builds high-performing teams and demonstrates empathy and humility. Demonstrated record of developing and mentoring leaders, faculty, and staff. Ability to effectively manage, collaborate, and problem-solve across a complex institution. Deep commitment to cultivating a student-centered environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Required Education Earned Doctoral Degree from a regionally accredited institution and an academic record suitable for appointment at the rank of full professor. Required Work Experience Significant administrative experience in higher education, including at least three (3) years of experience in a dean’s position or higher.
