Job Description
Job Summary:
The General Accounting Specialist will maintain all general accounting activities including all QB systems, payroll and standards and delivery of key financial management reports. This position also serves to help gather and analyze financial data to allocate costs of projects and audit jobs at close.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Customer service position; Answer phones, greet and assist visitors. Establishes and maintains relationships with customers and clients, assisting them when needed.
- Maintains general accounting department systems in Quickbooks and assist with the transfer to Online. Serves as Secondary in-house accountant for the program location.
- Aids in writing policies, practices, and procedures for accounting department.
- Prepares required financial reports and additional reports as directed.
- Aids in reconciling all company bank accounts and credit card accounts monthly.
- Improves and aids in implementation of financial controls, ensuring accurate control and accounting of assets and accounts.
- Aids in planning and preparing budgets as directed.
- Aids other staff in assisting auditors; aids in process to gather and provide information and documents needed for inquiries.
- Completes Acculynx trainings for office personnel and updates to training as needed.
- With implementation of Acculynx system, works to coordinate needed items between program and Quickbooks.
- Accepts payments via mail and over the phone; posts and deposits payments per GAAP and banking guidelines and requirements.
· Assists in reviewings collection reports to determine the status; makes collection calls; and proceeds to refer delinquent accounts to appropriate agencies or attorneys.
· Assists in filling out credit applications, keeps accounts active and in good order with updated information as needed.
· Provides upkeep of location Payroll and Personnel files.
· Assists in completing and providing EOY tax forms of 1099s for vendors and W2s for employees.
· Assists in completing other tax forms and updates monthly, quarterly, and yearly as required.
· Initiates and maintains sick and vacation leave for staff as benefits become available.
· Performs general office suties from answering phones, filing, copying, etc.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to follow all written and verbal policies, procedures and instructions that are implemented by Management.
· Develop thorough understanding of the laws, regulations, and policies that govern the financial and banking industry through trainings and utilizing online services.
· Ability to review and analyze financial documents and reports and to identify trends, risks,
weaknesses, and other pertinent information.
· Ability to take direction and follow SOPs; but also take initiative when the need arises.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines with accurate and efficient work.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures; QB applications.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Proficient with or able to quickly learn the accounting software used by the organization.
Experience in management of an office helpful.
- At least five years of general accounting experience with at least 3 working in QuickBooks/QB Online.
