The Director of Grant Development and Administration will seek out, coordinate, and manage opportunities for grant funding that supports the mission of Baltimore Medical System. The Director will provide technical expertise and support organization goals identified in relevant strategic plans, including system, city, state, and national health initiatives and special projects. One overarching goal is to increase grant funding levels across targeted programs and initiatives by securing maximum funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources. The Director of Grant Development & Administration is responsible for providing broad, overarching leadership and strategic oversight to support program and clinical staff in submitting grant applications, progress reports, grant budget development and revisions, and other documents requested by the funder. The Director is also responsible for protecting BMS by facilitating compliance with all federal/state/city regulations and conditions or restrictions on expanding foundation, private and corporate funding.
The Director of Grants Administration is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and financial management of a portfolio of grants from federal, state, and local entities totaling approximately $9 to $10 million annually. He or she has the primary responsibility to maintain consistent processes for post-award grants management to ensure BMS remains compliant with the terms of its contractual agreements and with federal, state, and city regulations governing the acceptance and expenditure of grant funds such as CFRs and OMB circulars including A133 audits.
He or she must ensure timely fulfillment of financial and grant compliance deliverables and deadlines as outlined in funding agreements and Federal grant regulations, including but not limited to reviewing the deliverables before submission.
The Director will assist the VP of Development in seeking grant opportunities and coordinating pre- and post-award planning activities with key decision-makers within BMS and at grant-making agencies.
Education:
Master’s Degree in Administration, Public Health or related field
Experience:
Experience in grant proposal writing and/or research
Demonstrated experience reflecting progressive responsibility and a minimum of 5 years in grant and/or contract administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State, and City/local grant processes and experience monitoring grant/contract compliance.
Experience demonstrating skill in effectively communicating financial concepts to financial and non-financial customers.
Strong oral and written skills with proven ability to effectively interface with individuals at various levels within and outside the organization sufficient to exchange information, work cooperatively, facilitate understanding, and persuade and influence others.
Demonstrated skills using Microsoft desktop applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Excellent analytical skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.
