The purpose of the Accounting Technician position is data input of the agency accounting system by means of the operation of the North Carolina Financial System in Granville County, NC. This includes the accurate and timely entry of Accounts Receivable (facility logs, transfers, etc.), Patient Accounting, and Accounts Payable invoices for all institutions/agencies in the Northern region. This position is also responsible for the handling of patient credit card purchases, reconciliation, and payment processing. This position may also include a variety of other accounting duties as assigned.

The Office of the Controller sets and interprets all accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures for the Department as authorized by the rules and regulations of the Office of the State Controller and state statutes and executes all accounting transactions for DHHS.

* Ability to review and analyze information, identify problems, and recommend corrections.
* Ability to understand and interpret new directives is also needed.

* Working experience of office methods and procedures.

Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of accounting experience;

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in accounting work;

equivalent combination of education and experience.
