The primary purpose of the Accounting Technician position is to perform functions and responsibilities which operate under the areas of DDS Subsystem Unit within the Accounting and Financial Management Subsystem Section. This position's major responsibility is to sort Medical Evidence of Record invoices purchased through Disability Determination Services (DDS) for the purpose of adjudicating the Social Security Disability claims through DDS NCPS. Medical Evidence of Record invoices include numerous types of letters that are submitted to the medical sources to obtain medical information. Payments to the medical vendors are based on DDS case processing approval for substantive information received. Other duties involve:

Responsible for data entry of vendor maintenance changes in the DDS Subsystems. Process Applicant Travel Vouchers for payments as requested by Disability Determination Services for reimbursement of applicant travel to and from consultant examination. Must be able to communicate both orally and written to other employees- including management, vendors, and other agencies. Position is required to use Microsoft Office Suite, 10 key calculator, copier, fax machine and other office equipment as necessary. About DHHS Office of the Controller: The Office of the Controller sets and interprets all accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures for the Department as authorized by the rules and regulations of the Office of the State Controller and state statutes and executes all accounting transactions for DHHS. The Central Billing Office (CBO) in the DHHS Office of the Controller (OoC), Accounts Receivable Section is responsible for Accounts Receivable, billing, and collections of over $475 million annually for the thirteen Division of State Owned and Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF).
