SUMMARY
The Director of Safety and Security is responsible for senior level management of the daily Safety and Security operations which includes corporate security staff, third-party security vendors, and law enforcement partners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversight of the Daily Security Operation including the Safety and Security (SAS) Team including Security Specialists, Security Inspectors, and our 24/7 Emergency Services Operations Center (ESOC).
Develop, administer, and maintain standard operating procedures to assure safety and security of residents, employees, and stakeholders of CHA.
Proactively develop and lead physical operational safety and security measures concerning the Chicago Housing Authority and its employees, residents, contractors, and stakeholders.
Oversight and management of 3rd party contractors and vendors within the Security and Emergency Services Budget.
Ensure Security contract compliance, proper invoicing, and regular accountability meetings with our security vendors.
Assess, create, and maintain security protocols and guidelines for programs such as employee safety, visitor management, emergency preparedness and recovery, duress notifications, threat assessment, and staff safety awareness training.
Liaison with our Law Enforcement partners and inter-governmental agencies.
Assist in management of the security and threat assessment process.
Partner with internal departments during construction and design to ensure a consistent security approach and best practices.
Participate in local security groups, advisory groups, and resident groups that focus on property level security issues.
Coordinate with the Office of Emergency Management & Communication while planning for and during emergency situations as needed.
The employee in this position must be available for on-call duty 24-hours a day, work long hours if needed in all environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field required. 5+ years of progressive security experience required. Knowledge of physical security, security assessments, guard operations, and security technology required. Must have served in a Command/ Head position within a Security Function. Must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be willing to be on-call and available 24/7.

$110,000 - $125,000
