Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization towards continued growth and success. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, project management, and financial management. This role requires a collaborative and results-driven individual who can drive change and foster a positive work environment.
POSITION SUMMARY
Uphold the mission of MRHS - support its goals, work closely with the BOD and provide informed decision-making.
Be responsible for the cost effective and humane operations of the organization; health and welfare of animals, development of new programs; and training, supervision of shelter staff and volunteers.
Serve as a dynamic liaison between the staff, Board of Directors, the community, and government entities in the City of Athens and McMinn County.
Function as the shelter’s visible spokesperson and will have a unique opportunity to positively influence the community at large.
Responsibilities
Ø Personnel Management
Oversee all employees and volunteers including hiring, scheduling, conducting performance evaluations, promotions, and terminations.
Work with the Shelter Management, Outreach Coordinator and Spay/Neuter Clinic regarding animal health issues, animal transport and euthanasia.
Ø Fundraising and Pet Adoption Events
Build and maintain relationships with funders and donors.
Research and write grants and manage donor appeals.
Develop and assist with developing fundraisers and community events.
Ø Financial Management
Work with the Board of Directors to develop the annual operating budget.
Foster relationships with the City of Athens, McMinn County, and its municipalities as the Board of Directors’ Liaison.
Prepare reports for monthly Board Meetings.
Ø Community Outreach and Public Relations
Foster good relationships with local veterinarians and animal-related businesses, as well as local newspapers and other community organizations.
Manage online marketing including social media, E-mail distribution, and the shelter website.
Ø Shelter Operations
Ensure high-quality animal care.
Manage effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components, measuring successes.
Oversee maintenance of the facilities and property.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in nonprofit management.
Passion for animal welfare.
Current understanding of compliance issues involving pertinent federal, state, and local regulations.
Understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills, which support and enable sound decision making.
Strong commitment to the professional development of staff.
Demonstrated proficiency across multiple social media platforms.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
