Generac Energy Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer III (Senior MQE) to join our growing team. In this exciting opportunity, you will serve as the technical manufacturing conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to the selected manufacturing sites (i.e. Contract Manufacturers) to drive scale-readiness in a growing family of solar energy storage products. The successful candidate will aid in the choice of materials, processes and Contract Manufactures for next generation power conversion and energy storage products with warrantees of up to 25 years. This Candidate will also lead efforts at qualified manufacturing locations for the delivery of high-quality products to Generac's customers. Candidates should be passionate about scaling distributed energy and committed to robust products and aggressive quality and performance targets from Generac's Clean Energy Products.

Up to 30/40% travel may be required for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supplier/Partner selection and development for High Reliability Power Electronics.
  • Coordinates and executes comprehensive Contract Manufacturer "Process" Audits at defined frequencies.
  • Develop and own quality performance metrics and work closely with global network of contract manufacturers to drive corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develops Quality Requirements Specifications for high reliability products produced by Contract Manufacturers.
  • Provide critical inputs on materials and process choices.
  • Participate in DFMEA and DFM activities for products produced at Contract Manufactures.
  • Quality resource to own Process Flow, PFMEA and Control Plans on new and existing products.
  • Lead and enforce PPAP and assure tools and processes are effective to support consistent high-quality levels at Contract Manufactures.
  • Qualify equipment installation and setup in collaboration with the Contract Manufacturing team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives at suppliers based on a formal trend management approach.
  • Provide timelines and conduct cost analysis for improvement projects using lean sigma tools.
  • Lead and drive all SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) activities at Contract Manufacturing locations.
  • Participate in all Corrective Action and Preventative Action processes that pertain to manufacturing or material deficiencies.
  • Proficient user of Engineering Change Control tools and assures effective implementation of all ECO's affecting products and production processes at Contract Manufactures.
  • Coordinate with the engineering design and Manufacturing Engineering teams and testing department steam and Manufacturing Engineering Coordinate with the engineering design (responsibilities may expand to include materials/process evaluation testing)
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience
  • Must have at least 5 years of manufacturing of high reliability electronic, electromechanical or products with a focus on quality management in a contract manufacturing or electromechanical assembly environment.
  • Strong experience with solder chemistries/processing, electronics cleaning and cleanliness validation processes, conformal coating and potting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Power electronics, consumer electronics or commercial electronics background preferred
  • Experience working with international companies and in a matrix organization;
  • Proven experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions.
  • Prior experience with hardware certification standards (e.g. UL1741)
  • Mechanical and thermal analysis

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
