Lockheed Martin Space is seeking an early career Manufacturing Engineer to join our Production Support Engineering Team in King of Prussia, PA! The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of the following: manufacturing practices and methods for mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, and/or harness assembly; reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and specifications; knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
Summary of Key Duties for this position:
You will design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for mechanical assemblies and electromechanical assemblies.
You will write production plans, inspect and assess defective hardware, and optimize production flows to meet program deliverables.
You will communicate with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements and gain efficiencies.
You will support Production Control in prioritizing work in process to meet program delivery schedules.
You will analyze shop performance, and support Quality Assurance in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related defects.
You will support development and production of weapon systems.
Travel may be required.
Weekend or off-hour support may be required to support production schedules.
The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of manufacturing or production processes and ability to read, interpret, and apply basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles.
Basic Qualifications:
Understanding of manufacturing or production processes.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply basic GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles.
This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited college or university.
Experience reading engineering drawings and analyzing design documentation.
Working understanding of mechanical assembly processes, methodologies, and equipment.
Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and principles as well as work measurements and labor standards.
Experience with high-mix production operations.
Experience developing rework instructions, repair directions, or flow alteration records.
Experience in SAP is a plus.
Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
Active Secret security clearance is desired.
Experience operating in an aerospace or defense production environment.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
