Direct Reports: HR Specialist
FLSA Status: Exempt
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Overview: The Senior HR Generalist is to aid in the administration and support of HR processes, procedures, systems, and our great team members. This person will lead all HR initiatives for the Chicago plant. This position is fully onsite and there is no hybrid or remote option at this time.
Essential Job Functions:
Training: Provided on the job and supplemented with external seminars/classes.
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years prior HR experience. Strong HR Generalist background required. Prior manufacturing experience highly preferred; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred. Prior union experience preferred but not required.

Essential Job Functions:
- Drive HR programs and policies for the plant
- Lead employee communications for the site
- Responsible for managing employee relations issues including but not limited to counseling, coaching, and corrective action.
- Manage all recruiting efforts for the site; full cycle recruiting with assistance from HR Specialist
- Facilitate the internal job promotion and interview process
- Coordinate and facilitate a variety of employee meetings, engagement events, and trainings
- Manage site LOA’s including FMLA, STD, and personal leaves
- Track, monitor and coach employees and supervisors on weekly attendance
- Create reward and recognition programs to drive performance in alignment with business objectives
- Onboard new employees, facilitate new hire orientations
- Assist Corporate EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with annual Safety and Health compliance training. Assist with injuries, illnesses, and Workers Compensation
- Support, mentor, and manage site HR Specialist
- Assist Corporate HR team with company-wide projects and initiatives
- Update and maintain current job descriptions
- Maintain HRIS accuracy for all employee records
- Ensure compliance with City of Chicago ordinances, other state and federal laws
- Ensure proper record keeping and employee file maintenance
