Our client, a well-established manufacturing company located on the South Side of Chicago, is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to support and lead HR operations at their plant. This individual will be responsible for driving HR programs, managing employee relations, and ensuring a positive work environment while supporting plant leadership in all aspects of human resources.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Programs & Policies:

Lead HR initiatives and drive plant-specific programs and policies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. Facilitate clear and consistent employee communications.Employee Relations:

Manage employee relations issues, including counseling, coaching, and corrective action. Ensure a respectful and productive work environment.Recruitment:

Oversee full-cycle recruiting efforts for the plant, partnering with the HR Specialist for support.Leave Management:

Manage employee leave of absence (LOA) processes, including FMLA, STD, and personal leaves.Attendance Management:

Track and monitor attendance, providing coaching and support to employees and supervisors as needed.Safety & Compliance:

Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Coordinator to ensure compliance with safety regulations and annual training. Assist with Workers' Compensation and injury/illness management.Leadership & Development:

Mentor and manage the site HR Specialist. Provide coaching and development opportunities for HR staff.Corporate Collaboration:

Assist the Corporate HR team with company-wide projects, policies, and initiatives.Job Descriptions:

Update and maintain accurate job descriptions in accordance with business needs.Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required.Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of prior HR experience with a strong generalist background.Manufacturing

ExperienceLanguage Skills:

Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.Union Experience:

Previous experience working with unions is preferred but not required.Key Competencies:
