Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The Staff Accountant will also be involved in the transactional work tied to disbursements and funding. Essential Duties: Performs general cost accounting. Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Maintains the general ledger. Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists closing the quarterly books. Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks. Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit. Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies. Prepares and submits daily disbursements. Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required. 3+ years of related experience in accounting required. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, NetSuite, Salesforce, and Quickbooks. Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting. Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Experience in preparing tax reports is a plus. The Ideal Candidate: Equipment leasing experience is a plus. Ability to embrace the concept of “other duties as assigned” in the spirit of teamwork. Maintains a high level of professionalism. Is detail oriented and thorough. Ability to be productive and efficient under varying volumes of workload and rapidly shifting priorities Additional Skills: Excellent relational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Diplomacy.
